Duvall Reads Season 3: 2010-2011
September is the start of our third Duvall Reads season. Over the summer many of you mentioned that this would be the year for finding time to join in. Pick a book, enjoy it & spend an hour & a half among friends. We welcome you with open arms!

Season 3 was assembled with a few things in mind:
- what loyal readers indicated they would like to read;
- the types of books Duvall Readers enjoyed the most this past year;
- something to do with the Pacific Northwest, as well as something international;
- selections that are timeless in scope, mixed with those that are contemporary;
- interesting non-fiction that is entertaining & accessible.

The 2010-2011 selections fit on the shelf of this criteria. An Ivan Doig book was almost our bonus read for July, so we're starting Season 3 with one of the best known works from this local author that takes place in Montana.

Our first-ever selection of a classic novel is To Kill a Mockingbird. It is the fiftieth anniversary of the iconic Harper Lee masterpiece, which provides an opportune reason to include it. The other four novels explore humanity in meaningful ways through unique, profound voices.

Duvall Reads non-fiction selections start with a Pulitzer Prize winning historical account of America's principle founders. We then read about two of these leaders in concise biographies (avoiding the 1,000 page tombs that dominate the genre). This approach is a tweek of the popular Theodore Roosevelt trilogy done in 2010.

Here is a guide for the full season of Duvall Reads:
